Ox (Ugly Doll) - my very first Designer Toy

David Horvath's Mothman

David Horvath's Flatwoods

David Horvath couple

Dunny by David Horvath from 2-Face Series...

... which was completely designed by David Horvath

David Horvath

David Horvath is probably known best for his Ugly Dolls, that are available as plush cuddly toys, too. I only own one Ugly Doll called Ox, though that was my very first Designer Toy at all for I felt immediately in love with it. Besides Ox, I also own one Mothman figure as well as another figure by David Horvath called Flatwoods. All figures can be seen in the slideshow.

Eddie, Pip and Norton (by Critterbox)

Eddie, Pip & Norton

After Ox (I think it was around 24 hours later) I just had to buy Eddie, whom I had seen in the same store (Modern Graphics). This is probably due to Eddies irresistible gaze that he gives you with his bug eyes. And after having Eddie for a while (I guess it must have been around a week), it was clear that I also needed Pip and Norton. So, I purchased these two guys, too. Pip and Norton's box is very special in that sense that it has velco strips to which you can stick the plastic legs that are also coming with the package. By this (and a bit of additional folding) you can create Pip and Norton something like a car. I think this is absolutely genius and I have never seen that before or again with another figure. Eddie, Pip and Norton are produced by Critterbox, who unfortunately haven't released any new toys for a while now.

Gary Baseman

One of the most popular Urban Vinyl artists besides Frank Kozik and David Horvath is probably Gary Baseman. As Baseman toys are normally quite pricy, I only own very few of them and not very big ones. You can find my collected Baseman Toys united in one group picture.

Mellow with pudding on his head...

... with fallen down pudding.

Mellow

Mellow is one of my favourite figures, if not THE favourite one. Because although he is wearing a pudding on his head, he is permanently looking a bit sad. An absolute mystery with this delicious pudding - maybe he's afraid that the pudding could fall down from his head...? Besides one Dunny from the 5th series, Mellow is my second figure with a dessert on the head.

Stereotype

Similar to Dunny, Stereotype is a basic figure that is designed by different artists in series. Unlike with Dunny, where normally every figure in a series is created by different artist, with Stereotype an entire series is created by one and the same artist. I don't know why but I have a weakness for the character called "Alban", therefore I have it more than other figures. The first figure is 8 inch tall, the second one 3 inch - another analogy to Dunny. The figures from the Outer Space series all come with a flying saucer.

My latest acquisitions from the Stereotype series (ordered shortly after Christmas 2008 in Hong Kong) are the three guys from the "Be My Slave" series by Superdeux. My darling-one is again the character Alban. I'm absolutely in love with the character Boo from this series, but it's impossible to get this one from anywhere.

Cactus Pups by Tokidoki

Moofia Series by Tokidoki

Tokidoki

Tokidoki is not from Japan, as the name is suggesting, but from Italy. This also explains their weakness for Mozarella. One of my favourites from Tokidoki is the Moofia Series.

Other Vinyl Figures

In this slideshow, you can find all my other Designer Toys. Among those I specially like the Crappy Cat, the Zlicks by Andrew Bell (which were bloody expensive in this special edition variant and later very reduced to a ridiculously low price as obviously, nobody wanted to have them), Skumbo, the Opera Dude by Tokyo Plastic (which also cost me a small fortune compared to that it is a very small figure) and of course the Lad by London Police (similiar to the Zlicks, I spent a fortune and a few months later, they were literally throwing the figure after you). I think that the Crappy Cat's beer can is absolutely hilarious. Crappy Cat is quite tall, one of the tallest figures I own. Skumbo comes with a small hammer which reveals his dominant character. The Instinctoy, whose pictures you can find there, too, comes with two funny foot prints. When I collected the package from the customs and opened it for the first time, the figure smelled heavily like finish. I never had this before either, it seems that it has been painted with real paint.
